Kuvan Kevät 2026

Master’s Degree show 15 May – 14 June 2026

About the exhibition

The annual exhibition Kuvan Kevät showcases the works of 45 students completing their Master’s degrees at the Academy of Fine Arts. Participating students come from all four disciplines: Painting, Printmaking, Sculpture, and Time and Space Arts. The expansive exhibition will be held across the Kuva/Tila gallery, Myllytori, and other floors of the Mylly building at the Sörnäinen campus.

This year’s iteration brings together a diverse range of artistic work and provides insight into the artistic thinking of a new generation. Although it is not a thematic exhibition, many works focus on specific techniques or media to examine issues of materiality, identities, self-expression, technologies, and the pressing issues of our times.

Academy of Fine Arts’ lecturer in Art & Society, Suzanne Mooney, oversees Kuvan Kevät 2026. Alongside her colleagues in the production and technical teams, she instils a process of guidance and support through clear communication and attentiveness.

Elisa Sakko & Lisa Holmén: All It Is

Wednesday 13.5. at 17:00 (opening day)
Saturday 16.5. at 12:00
Saturday 30.5. at 14:00
Saturday 6.6. at 14:00

The performance takes place at Mylly 1st floor lobby. Duration around 30 – 45 min.

All It Is is a music performance with Elisa Sakko’s work. The work consists of two box-like elements that can be stepped into and are connected to each other via microphones and speakers. The sound moves between the elements, swirling, echoing, and building up.

In the performance, Sakko and Holmén play in their own boxes.

Once a day, during the exhibition’s opening hours.

Kuva/Tila. Duration 1 hour.

The event occurs once a day, each time with a different person—a “new ŽAN”—who comes to interact with the work, subtly transforming it through their presence and personality. The score is simple: to exist within the space while wearing the garment. It allows complete freedom in adopting a character, a personality, an act, or simply remaining as oneself.

Catalogue

The exhibition catalogue texts have emerged from conversations between the artists and students from the Bachelor’s Programme in Contemporary art theory and history, as well as the Praxis Master’s Programme in Curating and writing in contemporary art. The texts bring forth various approaches to artistic practices, and lead toward the materials, ideas, surrounding life and environments that precede the finished work. Catalogue editors: Isa Lumme ja Telma Pietiäinen.
