Global Music (degree programme)
Immerse yourself in a culturally and musically diverse environment to develop into a multi-skilled, flexible, visionary musician and pedagogue with world-class teachers.

Why study here?
Join us as a student at one of the leading performing arts universities in the world. As a Global Music student, you will deepen your own artistic identity and develop the ability to perform, communicate, collaborate, create, facilitate, research and lead in a wide range of musical, cultural and socially engaged contexts.
About the studies
Your studies include both one-to-one instruction as well as group tuition. You will form an intercultural ensemble with your fellow students and expand your unique artistic portfolio through developing new work, intercultural collaborations, performances and your own projects.
Through your studies, you will learn about themes that are central to a professional global musician, including artistic identity, intercultural collaboration, multidisciplinary approaches, global musicianship, music creation, improvisation, rhythmics, global pedagogy, entrepreneurship, global choir, experimental instrument making, practice based research and community engagement.
You may tailor your schedule and choose optional courses from any department suited to your own personal interests. You may also choose courses organised by the other two academies of the University and complete joint studies, which are available for all students.
Teachers
Teachers in the programme are various experts employed by the Sibelius Academy as well as visiting pedagogues and artists.
