Theoretical framework in the MA programme in Choreography

Theoretical studies offer a place to ponder, explore and research topical discourses, methodologies, and conceptual tools within choreography and performance and in relation to larger societal and philosophical contexts.

The studies aim to develop the student’s ability to explore, research and articulate their artistic interests, visions, and goals with the support of theoretical frameworks, methodological investigations, and conceptual tools.

Key concepts concerning choreography, performance, artwork, composition, and representation are being explored and investigated as part of the historical evolution of the arts and within the framework of current discourses.

Studies process the relationship between choreography and performance and social, ethical, and environmental themes, for instance, post-humanism, post-colonialism, feminism, digitalization, and questions of identity. These are investigated through critical reflection and as multi-disciplinary potentialities for artistic themes and forms, in different mediums and platforms.
