About us

Sibelius Academy jazz department gives the highest education in jazz in Finland. With its approximately 40 students the department is a small and very high level community of like-minded jazz talents. We are proud of our community and it’s a key element in inspiring and nurturing the growth as an artist.

Sibelius Academy offers also doctoral studies. After graduating with a master’s degree, you will have the option to apply for doctoral studies in jazz and specialize in research-oriented, artistic or applied doctoral studies.

In addition to the studies we organize concerts, the yearly festival DIG. and work closely in cooperation with other jazz organizations in Helsinki and in Finland. We are an active operator in the Finnish culture scene as well as a part of the international jazz society. Helsinki is an active culture city offering wide range of art experiences all year round.
