Applicants who are refugees or in a refugee-like situation
If the applicant is a refugee (they have been granted a residence permit on an asylum basis) or in a refugee-like situation (they have a residence permit based on subsidiary protection or they have been granted temporary protection) and they are unable to submit documentary evidence of their qualification, the university may make a decision on the applicant’s eligibility to apply. The decision is made based on unofficial documents provided by the applicant or a report on one’s educational background requested from the applicant. The aim is to verify the information provided by the applicant by appropriate means considering the situation.
The applicant must have an official statement of refugee status from authorities (a decision on refuge, residence permit based on subsidiary protection or a certificate of temporary protection). The applicant must deliver a copy of the aforementioned document to the admissions office no later than the deadline set for appendices that prove the applicant’s eligibility to apply.
Uniarts Helsinki will make a decision on eligibility based on the submitted report. Applicants with refugee status must provide proof of their language skills as required by the university.
