Writing as Choreography, PDA event

The Centre for Artistic Research, CfAR`s Post Doc Art (PDA) event is held on Thursday, 5.5.2022, at 16–18 in the Theatre Academy, in Studio 709 (Elevator A, 7th floor), Haapaniemenkatu 6, Helsinki.

According to the participants, the event is held in either Finnish or English

Writing as Choreography

Kirsi Heimonen and Leena Rouhiainen

The artist-researcher duo Heimonen and Rouhiainen present the approach to choreography as writing they have been developing during the past few years. They will introduce the background and motifs of their collaboration and show some of the choreography they have generated. The event also consists of a workshop in which participants concretely familiarize themselves with the method of writing the duo has constructed.

Dr. Kirsi Heimonen, University Researcher, Centre for Artistic Research (CfAR), University of the Arts Helsinki. She is an artist-researcher with a background in dance, choreography, somatic movement methods and experimental writing, and her recent interests in artistic research have been circling around silence and insanity.  

Dr. Leena Rouhiainen, Professor, Performing Arts Research Centre, Theatre Academy, University of the Arts Helsinki. She is a dancer, choreographer, and artist-researcher whose research interests lie in somatics, dance performance, choreography, experimental writing, phenomenology, and artistic research. She has published several articles and a few volumes in these areas.
