Cancelled: Juan de Dios Magdaleno – The fragility of time

The doctoral concert of Juan de Dios Magdalenosecond where we will hear some of the enligtening results of his research and the outcome of his musical experimentations.

My quest of reflecting throughout my creative work upon a pluralistic world and multifaceted society, has led me to the study and exploration of musical forms that diverge from dialectical paradigms deeply explored during the last few centuries of music history.

Throughout my artistic research carried out at the CMT, essentially, I am looking for a way to formalize in my creative work a compositional framework that allow me to integrate and develop multiple micro temporal structures, each coming from somewhat diverse aesthetical standpoints and therefore, informed by its ‘own’ intrinsic sonic qualities.

Thus, my artistic doctoral research focus on the study of musical applications of different digital spatialization engines and the development of high-level control interfaces that allow me to shape in detail divers multichannel sound spatialization/diffusion systems; as well as to control its evolution and iteration over the time of the musical work just as any other musical parameter (harmony for example).

In this second doctoral concert, we will hear some of the result of this research, in particular, the outcome of the musical experimentation with real-time electronic processing of acoustic instruments and its diffusion through a Distance-based amplitude panning (DBAP) multichannel system.
