Matadalogy is a term used by Chico Matada to define the method by which Ndau’s indigenous music is brought into the environment of contemporary music settings!
In his global master’s concert, Chico Matada explores the essence of Ndokodo music belonging to Ndau people of Mozambique, through the process of integrating this musical tradition into a contemporary ensemble, and concert stage setting.
Matadalogy’s fresh sound is characterised by incantational melodic lines, and sophisticated rhythmic elements that are aesthetically ancient, and yet very contemporary, intertwined with use of jazz improvisation.
