(Bad) Dreams come true – a string quartet
Tiina Myllärinen’s lecture (Bad) Dreams come true – a string quartet.
Acoustic phenomena enchant and inspire me. The same music sounds differently in different spaces, and also creates different atmospheres,” writes composer Tiina Myllärinen in the program notes for her string quartet. In this work she explores how varying acoustic spaces can be created within the same work without altering the performance space. In doing so, she creates impressions of changing spaces. The piece also makes space for the horror and tension of the war in Ukraine. It is dedicated to Ukrainian dreams that will hopefully soon come true.
Tiina Myllärinen is currently pursuing studies in the DocMus program at Uniarts Helsinki.
