Eero Holstila selected to the Uniarts Helsinki Board beginning its term in 2022

The Uniarts Helsinki University Collegium selected Eero Holstila as an external member to the Uniarts Helsinki Board. Holstila will serve as a board member for a four year-term extending from 1 January 2022 to 31 December 2025.

Eero Holstila (M.Soc.Sc.) is an expert in urban policy, working as a senior advisor for Consultancy for Regional Development MDI. Holstila has previously served as the director of economic development for the City of Helsinki, CEO for Culminatum Innovation Ltd, director of the City of Helsinki Urban Facts and as an independent consultant. He has long-running experience in serving as a board member for associations, communities and companies. His current positions of trust include serving as the chair of the board of the Helsinki Baroque Orchestra and as a member of the board of the Patrons’ Association of the Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival. In 2009–2011, Holstila was a member of the Sibelius Academy Board. Holstila has also long been active in international networks, including in the International Advisory Board for the City of Rotterdam as well as in the International Advisory Board for The Technopolicy Network.

The Collegium made the decision in its meeting on 18 November 2021. 

The Uniarts Helsinki Board has five members from outside the university community. The Collegium selected four other members in September. In addition to Eero Holstila, new members selected to the Uniarts Helsinki Board include Leevi Haapala, Jukka Kekkonen and Sonya Lindfors. Their term is four years and extends until 31 December 2025. Astrid Thors will continue serving as a member of the Board for a two-year term ending on 31 December 2023. 

Six board members represent the university community 

The Uniarts Helsinki Board has a total of 11 members. In addition to members from outside the university community, the Board also has six members who have been elected internally for a four-year term. Professor members are Kristiina Ilmonen and Kirsi Monni. Other teaching and research staff and other personnel are represented by Anu Vehviläinen and Katariina Kivistö-Rahnasto. 

Uniarts Helsinki’s Student Union will select two student members to the Board later this year.
