Sibafest: ExoSound walk
Workshop & a place-based walk with co-sounding improvisation
Meeting point for the workshop is Musiikkitalos’s info at 12:50 and for the place-based walk the lower foyer at 14:00. The registration link for the workshop will be published on this page on January 12, 2026.
In the workshop we will teach you how to use the ExoSound app. For this, the participants of the workshop will need to bring their own mobile devices, phone or tablet, with a browser and internet connection (with or without bluetooth speakers).
After the workshop, ExoSound practice sets off for a walk to improvise and co-sound outdoors in a site-specific manner. The audience is welcome to join the practice with their own mobile devices or participate as listeners and walkers. We will explore the space in-between Musiikkitalo, Oodi, Kiasma, and Sanomatalo, around Kansalaistori and Makasiinipuisto. Please be prepared for going outdoors, and bring warm clothes, gloves and a hat.
This event is organised by the ExoSound research project, which investigates outdoor and collective electronic music making. The motivation to take music-making outdoors is to listen to the environment as a sonically contributing player as well as to look at the sonic place-making as a negotiated, collective, activity.

Sibelius-Akatemian avoimien ovien tapahtuma Sibafest juhlii 20-vuotista taivaltaan Musiikkitalossa lauantaina 24.1.2026. Festivaalilla pääset seuraamaan muun muassa Così fan tutte -oopperan harjoituksia, kokeilemaan urkuja, heittäytymään ääni-improvisaatioon ja kuuntelemaan taiteilijahaastatteluita. Kaikkiin päivän tapahtumiin on vapaa pääsy.
