Keys, wires, voices, strings

An evening of electroacoustic improvisation.

Äänirasia, johon on yhdistetty paljon johtoja.

This quartet has worked together during the Electro-acoustic improvisation course, held at the Music Technology department, and led by Libero Mureddu. Improvised music, in the way we approach it, is based on the potential coexistence of multiple approaches, aesthetics, musical voices, different and new instruments and sounds. It is not concerned with idiomatic constraints, but on acting towards a fruitful interdependence, happening in the real time of the performance.

To realise this, one must develop autonomy, vulnerability, mutual understanding, and trust, while deeply and happily embracing the unexpected and the unpredictable. Be prepared for strange and unsettling sounds, hilarious coincidences, meaningful absurdities… or none of the above!

Performers

  • Otso Kauniskangas: voice, objects, live electronics
  • Lumi Mannermaa: toy piano, voice, live electronics
  • Libero Mureddu: physically modelled piano and effects
