Global fest: Arabic Ensemble and Haneen Choir
The Arabic Music Ensemble and Haneen Suomi Choir perform traditional Arabic music and folk songs from the Levant and Iraq in a joint concert.
In this concert, students of the Arabic Music Ensemble present a selection of pieces they have studied and rehearsed as part of their ensemble studies. They will also perform together with Haneen Suomi Choir, presenting traditional folk songs from the Levant and Iraq.
The Arabic Music Ensemble focuses on learning and performing traditional Arabic music from the Eastern Mediterranean region. Through ensemble playing, students explore the musical traditions and repertoire of the region.
Haneen Suomi Choir performs Arabic folk songs. In addition to singing, the choir provides a space for Arabic-speaking women to meet, build friendships, support one another, and strengthen their connections with the wider community.
Haneen Suomi is part of an international network of Haneen choirs that bring women together through singing and shared cultural activities.

Global Fest
Global Fest is an annual festival featuring students, teachers, alumni and special guests representing Sibelius Academy’s Global music programme. The global music studies embraces pluralistic, fluid approaches to sound, culture and identity, creating new hybrid musical spaces through intercultural dialogue and collaboration.
