Study Plan instructions: Church Music

This is how you make a Study Plan for your exchange application. Later, your Study Plan will be used to create a Learning Agreement.

Church Music studies in Sibelius Academy

Church Music studies at the Sibelius Academy consist of studies in vocal music, conducting, organ music, improvisation, accompaniment, arranging and composing music, pedagogy and all-around music skills and research. Exchange students are offered multidisciplinary tuition in church music – a combination of studies in organ music, accompaniment, choral conducting and vocal music, the ratio of which is to be agreed upon.

Individual tuition can be held in English, but the majority of the group tuition organized by the Department of Church Music is held in Finnish. The amount of individual tuition is determined by the combination of the studies and the amount of different subjects chosen. Choral conducting is not included in the amount of individual tuition, as it is regarded as group tuition.

How do I get started?

Start planning your Study Plan by looking into your main subject/instrument curriculum here: https://opinto-opas.uniarts.fi/. Under Sibelius Academy, you can also find the section “Courses for exchange students”, from which you can find suitable elective courses from other main subjects’ curricula and studies open for all students regardless of department (e.g. language studies, performance studies, physical education).

Make sure you include the courses and credits required as compulsory by your home institution.

In case you are accepted as an exchange student, you will need to start a Learning Agreement according to your home institution’s guidelines.

These courses have been popular electives among our exchange students in the past. Click the name of the course to see its page in the Study Guide (opens in a new tab).
