How to request for rectification of the admission decision

Applicants have right to apply for rectification of the admission decision if the University of the Arts has made an error in the selection procedure.

Applicants can apply for rectification of the admission decision from Uniarts Helsinki under section 82 of the Universities Act (558/2009). The purpose of a written request for rectification is to give the applicant the possibility to request for rectification if there is a reason to believe that there has been an error in the decision-making process. The admission decision can be corrected only if the University of the Arts has made an error in the selection procedure and the error justifies the correction of the admission decision. The rectification procedure is not intended as a means for receiving feedback or asking for further information about the admissions process.

Send a written request to the university

A written request for rectification should be submitted within 14 days of the publication of the admissions results.

The request for rectification must be in writing and it must be submitted to the Uniarts Helsinki Registry (kirjaamo@uniarts.fi) via email as a single PDF file. The request for rectification must arrive to the Registry within 14 days of the publication of the final admissions results, no later than 3 pm on the last day of delivery.

A request for rectification that is sent by email must arrive in the university’s email system before the deadline closes. The sender is responsible for the delivery of the request for rectification. Rectification requests received after the deadline shall be rejected.

Address for requests for rectification sent by post:
Uniarts Helsinki / Registry
P.O. Box 1
Töölönlahdenkatu 16 C
00097 UNIARTS.

The request for rectification must specify:

  • the target programme (or programmes) that the request concerns;
  • reference to the decision that the request concerns:
  • how should the decision be corrected;
  • grounds on which the rectification request is based on;
  • the applicant’s personal and contact information (full name, phone number, e-mail, home address);
  • the power of attorney or a written permission addressed to the representative, if used by the applicant.

The request must be signed by the applicant themself or the representative by a proxy.

No new documents for rectification

The admission decisions are made based on the information that the applicant has delivered to Uniarts Helsinki by the given deadline. New documents may not be submitted to support the request for rectification. Admission decisions and decisions on requests for rectification shall be made based on the information provided to the University by the applicant during the application period and by the deadline for submission of annexes and, if the applicant has received a supplementation request, within the later deadline specified in such supplementation request. In a multi-stage selection, the admission decision may also be based in part on an interview or a related advance assignment.

Rectification process

The academies process the possible requests for rectification without delay after the publication of the final admissions results. If necessary, a jury or other admissions committee may be asked to give a response to a request for rectification. Presentation and decision-making in the process follow the academy’s decisions. The deans are responsible for making decisions on requests for rectification. The academies’ academic affairs teams prepare the decisions.

Appeal in the Administrative Court

A decision, for which a rectification may be requested under section 82 of the Universities Act, may not be appealed against in the Administrative Court before the rectification process has been completed. An appeal against a decision concerning a rectification request shall be lodged with the Administrative Court.
