Academic Reading Circle

Making radically diverse arts and artistic research propositions with post-qualitative methods.

Post-Qualitative Research in the context of Arts Education and Artistic Research

This academic reading circle aims to cover modes of post-qualitative research in the context of Arts Education and Artistic Research and its tensions and resonances with other fields.

The Academic Reading Circle “Post-Qualitative Research in the context of Arts Education and Artistic Research” had its first meeting on August 19th, 2019. It is open to all Uniarts community, including members of the research centres, as CERADA, CfAr and History Forum, as well as PhD candidates. People from outside UniArts community are also more than welcome.

In the reading circle we focus on the challenges of doing and funding post-qualitative research in the context of Arts and Arts Education, including the writing of post-qualitative research projects, promoting pleasant and kind conversations aiming to make the process of researching, often solitary, more collective and integrated with plural perspectives.

(Neuro) queering the field

The circle also seeks to discuss texts that problematize how radical difference is approached in pedagogical methods. Regarding difference, we will focus on neurodiversity, collectively building strategies to make academic and art environments radically open to individuals with tendencies that are not fulfilled by the spatial, organisational and pedagogical standards. Neurodiversity will be understood in an intersection with queer theory.

The reading circle is open for anybody interested and will take place every three weeks. A more detailed description of the readings and the schedule is available in the following PDF file. If there are any questions or special requirements, feel free to message francisco.trento@uniarts.fi.
