Visiting Experts: Siphiwe Gloria Ndlovu

Award-winning Zimbabwean writer, scholar and filmmaker Siphiwe Gloria Ndlovu will discuss her works, which explore the history, culture and social issues of her home country.

Siphiwe Gloria Ndlovu is a Zimbabwean writer and filmmaker whose work focuses on the historical, cultural, and societal aspects of Zimbabwe. She is the author of the internationally acclaimed City of Kings trilogy, consisting of novels The Theory of Flight (The Sunday Times Fiction Prize), The History of Man, and The Quality of Mercy.

In 2022 Ndlovu received the Wyndham-Campbell Award at the Yale University for her literary work.

Siphiwe Gloria Ndlovu is both a chronicler and a conjurer whose soaring imagination creates a Zimbabwean past made of anguish and hope, of glory and despair: the story of the generations born at the crossroads of a country’s history.

Currently, Ndlovu is a Visiting Professor at the University of the Arts in Helsinki. The interview is conducted by Jussi Valtonen, professor of writing.
