Master of Fine Arts Pessi Parviainen’s doctoral research When Nothing is Called Music: Towards Ecological Composition will be presented for public examination on Friday, October 23rd 2020 at 12 o’clock at the University of the Arts Helsinki’s Theatre Academy (Auditorium 1, Haapaniemenkatu 6, Helsinki, Finland). The language of the examination is English.

The examination can also be followed live on Uniarts Helsinki’s Youtube channel.

The opponents are docent Petri Kuljuntausta and PhD Jean-Paul Thibaud (CNRS) and the Custos of the examination is Professor in Artistic Research Tuija Kokkonen.

Due to the coronavirus situation, the number of people at a time in the premises of the Theatre Academy is limited. In Auditorium 1 there will be space for 40 people. Between every seat there will always be an empty one. Hand disinfectant and face masks will be provided at the entrance of the Auditorium. Feel free to bring your own too.

The doctoral research has been published in the Theatre Academy’s publication series Acta Scenica.

Parviainen’s research was funded by The Kone Foundation, The City of Helsinki, The Risto Mäenpää Foundation, and Uniarts Helsinki’s Theatre Academy.
