Illustres primitiae – The Splendour of Baroque Dance

The first autumn crop of the Baroque Academy in 2021: the music and dance steps of French baroque reverberate at the Leonora Hall in Kallio-Kuninkala

The students of Sibelius Academy and the Open University showcase their progress at the end of a weekend-long course. The musical director is the renowned baroque violinist Florence Malgoire. The programme includes a dance performance given by baroque dance specialist Jani Sunnarborg. The programme features French Baroque dance masters including Muffat, Couperin and Dornel.

The Baroque Academy was established in spring 2019 in cooperation with Collegium, which organises education and public events on baroque music, the Sibelius Academy Department of Early Music, and the Open University of the University of the Arts Helsinki.
