Einladung
31 October – 23 November, 2025
About the exhibition
Uniarts Helsinki’s Academy of Fine Arts is resuming exchange exhibitions after a five-year break by joining forces with Berlin University of the Arts (UdK). The name of the exhibition, Einladung/Kutsu, draws from the idea of invitation – people are invited to come along, to stay and to interact.
In autumn 2025, students from the Academy of Fine Arts and UdK will come together for the second time to build an exhibition at Kuva/Tila. The previous spring, they met in Berlin and created a joint exhibition at UdK’s premises. Their shared conversations about studying and artistic practice have continued, leading to new works. In the Kuva/Tila exhibition, the students’ works are placed side by side, intertwined and in dialogue, just like when gathering around a shared invitation.
The German word Einladung means both invitation and hospitality – a gesture involving the offer of food or drinks. In Finnish, the word kutsu means the gesture of asking people to get together, and the plural form kutsut refers to a party with food and drinks. The name of the exhibition moves fluidly between these meanings: it evokes an open gesture, a shared moment and a chance to show hospitality.
Lecturer in Painting Markus Jäntti and Professor Robert Lucander from UdK have selected the Academy of Fine Arts students participating in the exhibition from the group of students featured in the 2024 BFA exhibition, while Academy of Fine Arts’ Lecturer in Painting Päivi Takala together with Professor of Painting Tarja Pitkänen-Walter chose the group of featured UdK students.
