Anne Yli-Ikkelä

About the Artist

Anne Yli-Ikkelä works with sculpture and drawing. She’s intrigued by the intersection and melting point of those two. Her latest materials have included stone, wheat flourand pens. She’s interested in how light and direct gestures transfer to stubborn material, or how heavy and hard turns into fast and lively. Yli-Ikkelä’s works stem from everyday notions with a touch of lightness and playfulness.

About the artwork

Paws and nose, of stone and bronze.
The nose leads and the paws follow. And I am close behind.
My work is a combination of warmth, joy, perseverance,
sweat, responsibility, and sharing the moment.
