The finalists of the Maj Lind piano competition have been selected

Six pianists made their way to the finals.

David Munk-Nielsen is a piano student of the Sibelius Academy, Uniarts Helsinki.

The competition finals include the Chamber Music Finals on Sunday 23 October at the Sibelius Academy Concert Hall and the Orchestral Finals on 26-27 October at the Helsinki Music Centre.

In the Chamber Music Final on Sunday the contestants will perform a piano quartet with either the members of Meta4 or Kamus Quartet. In the Orchestral Finals the contestants will perform a piano concerto with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Anna-Maria Helsing.

The winners of the competition will be announced after the second evening of Orchestral Finals. The winner will receive €30 000, the runner-up €25 000 and the third place winner €20 000. The other three finalists will each receive a prize of €8 000. The special prize for chamber music performance is €8 000 and the special prize of the Society of Finnish Composers for the best interpretation of the commissioned work [Tenderness by Outi Tarkiainen] from the second round is €1 500. The finalists will also have an opportunity to play concerts with Finnish orchestras and perform at various festivals in Finland.
