Students find Uniarts Helsinki’s teaching high-quality and helpful for their creativity and critical thinking

Once again, Uniarts Helsinki ranks at the top in the national bachelor’s graduate survey. Student feedback highlights the high quality of teaching, in-depth learning and strong working life skills. As for things to improve, students wished for more focus on wellbeing themes and more functional digital services.

Uniarts Helsinki’s course feedback surveys, bachelor’s graduate surveys and career monitoring surveys for masters and doctors from 2025 and the student survey from 2026 help paint an overall picture of the university as a learning environment. The results show that students find their studies meaningful and demanding. Students feel that studying at Uniarts Helsinki develops their thinking and competence on a profound level.

“Students trust their skills in challenging topics and feel that they’re learning something new. Some of the strengths that are highlighted in students’ responses include creativity, critical thinking, self-knowledge and performance and cooperation skills,” Vice Rector of Uniarts Helsinki Tapio Kujala said.

Nevertheless, various development areas also emerged from the feedback. At Uniarts Helsinki, student wellbeing and control of workload are below the national level on some indicators, although the trend in wellbeing over a four-year review period has been slightly positive. Digital systems and the ease of finding study-related information also continued to receive poorer ratings.

Uniarts Helsinki will utilise the student feedback in its continuous development work. The feedback has already resulted in efforts to make digital learning environments and study-related information easier to find. There have also been increased measures to support student wellbeing.

“We find it important that students can give us open and well-reasoned feedback. It’s essential that students are able to share both what works well and what we need to improve,” Kujala noted.
