Call for proposals for the artistic research exhibition of the Academy of Fine Arts

Claws and connections – all the world’s senses exhibition aims to display the untamed nature of artistic research. Participate, participate!

Claws and connections – all the world’s senses exhibition (working title) is a temporary parade into artistic research in and around Kuvataideakatemia with focus on what is its focal point: art practice. The exhibition takes place at the Academy of Fine Arts Mylly building main exhibit space Kuva/Tila in January–February 2024. The exhibition will consist of works and gestures permanent for the whole duration, and those that only visit the exhibit for a shorter period. Works and research arrangements, gestures and processes, exploratory developments, refined entities, experimental spurts. Excerpts, touching points, tensions, spatialities, materialities and temporalities in and through art, thinking, world.

During the exhibition there will be some discussions, performances, workshops and other study situations going on. They will be partly open for the public and partly targeted for professionals in art and research. You can also suggest a one-off event in this category.

About an how to propose/apply

Exhibition venue: the main exhibition space Kuva/Tila at the Mylly building

Time: 19.1.-15.2.2024 (TBC). Installing during 14.-17.1. / Opening 18.1. / Dismantling 16.-17.2. (TBC)

Target groups and order of preference:

  1. KuvA doctoral researchers
  2. KuvA MA/Doc alumni
  3. Other doctoral researchers and doctoral alumni at Uniarts

Please include in your proposal:

  • short description of the of the proposed work/other (specify)
  • clarifying visual drafts
  • information of duration of the proposed ’item’ (whole period of the exhibition or shorter)
  • possible material and /or installing costs (NB. It is possible to negotiate of getting a reasonable amount of costs covered by the exhibit budget.)
