How to request for rectification of the admission decision
You have the right to apply for rectification of the admission decision if you find that Uniarts Helsinki has made an error in the admissions procedure.
Applicants can apply for rectification of the admission decision from Uniarts Helsinki under section 82 of the Universities Act (558/2009). The purpose of a written request for rectification is to give the applicant the possibility to refer to a possible error in the decision-making process in order to get an erroneous decision rectified. The admission decision can be corrected only if Uniarts Helsinki has made an error in the admissions procedure and the error justifies the correction of the admission decision. The rectification procedure is not intended as a means for receiving feedback or asking for further information about the admissions process.
Send a written request to the university
A written request for rectification must be submitted within 14 days of the publication of the admissions results.
The request for rectification must be in writing and it must be submitted to the Uniarts Helsinki Registry (kirjaamo@uniarts.fi) via email as a single PDF file.
The request for rectification must arrive to the Registry within 14 days of the publication of the final admissions results. A request for rectification that is sent by email must arrive in the university’s email system before the deadline closes. The sender is responsible for the delivery of the request for rectification. Rectification requests received after the deadline are rejected.
Address for requests for rectification sent by post:
University of the Arts Helsinki, Töölö Campus / Registry
Töölönlahdenkatu 16 C
FI-00100 HELSINKI
The request for rectification must specify:
- the target programme (or programmes) that the request concerns;
- the decision that the request concerns:
- how the decision should be corrected;
- grounds on which the rectification request is sent;
- the applicant’s contact information (full name, phone number, email address, home address);
- a power of attorney or a written authorisation for a representative, if used by the applicant.
The request for rectification must be signed by the applicant or by a representative authorised by the applicant.
No new documents for rectification
The admission decisions are made based on the information that the applicant has delivered to Uniarts Helsinki by the given deadline. New documents may not be submitted to support the request for rectification. Admission decisions and decisions on requests for rectification are made based on the information provided to the university by the applicant during the application period and by the deadline for submission of annexes and, if the applicant has received a supplementation request, within the later deadline specified in such supplementation request. In a multi-stage admissions procedure, the admission decision may also be based in part on an interview or a related advance assignment.
Rectification process
The academies process the possible requests for rectification without delay after the publication of the final admissions results. If necessary, a jury or some other admissions committee may be asked to give a response to a request for rectification. Presentation and decision-making in the process follow the academy’s decisions. The deans are responsible for making decisions on requests for rectification. The academies’ academic affairs teams prepare the decisions.
Appeal to the Administrative Court
A decision, for which a rectification may be requested under section 82 of the Universities Act, may not be appealed against in the Administrative Court before the rectification process has been completed. An appeal against a decision concerning a rectification request can be lodged with the Administrative Court.
