The positions on the tenure track for professors are assistant professor, associate professor and full professor.

Professors’ tenure track in Uniarts Helsinki

Tenure track. 
Assistant professor (fixed term, 5 years) and then evaluation, permanent position as professor. 
Associate professor: those who advance are offered a permanent position. Fixed-term position under rectuitment, may lead to a permanent position as associate professor or professor. 
Those who advance undergo an evaluation to determine suitability as professor. 
Profeesor: employment contract is valid until further notice.
Other fixed-term positions.
Professor (fixed term): fixed-term position during a specific time period, the the purpose of developing art fields in accordance with the strategy of launching new initiatives. 
Visiting professor (fixed term): fixed-term position during a specific time period, a particularly distinguished visitor e.g. from another university or from an art organisation.

Minimum qualifications for recruitment

Assistant professor

  • Diverse teaching skills and a proven ability to  provide teaching that is based on public artistic activities and/or research, as demonstrated through one’s educational background and/or work experience
  • Proven ability to utilise feedback in the  development of teaching, as demonstrated through  one’s educational background and/or work experience
  • Proven ability to develop the field of study,  curriculum planning and/or one’s teaching  methods, incl. feedback systems, as demonstrated  through one’s educational background and/or  work experience
  • Proven ability to organise teaching, as  demonstrated through one’s educational  background and/or work experience
  • Proven ability to utilise artistic activities and/or research in teaching/in the development of teaching, as demonstrated through one’s educational background and/or work experience

Associate professor

  • Diverse teaching skills and a proven ability to  provide teaching that is based on public artistic activities and/or research, as demonstrated through one’s educational background and/or work experience
  • Experience in utilising feedback in the  development of teaching
  • Experience in developing the field of study,  curriculum planning, the subject and/or one’s teaching methods, incl. feedback systems
  • Pedagogical studies or pedagogical competence gained in some other manner
  • Experience in organising teaching
  • Experience in utilising artistic activities and/or research in teaching/the development of teaching

Full professor

  • Diverse teaching skills and a proven ability to provide teaching that is based on insightful public artistic activities and/or research, as demonstrated through one’s educational background and/or work experience
  • University-level teaching experience, including participation in providing doctoral education
  • Merits in utilising feedback in the development of teaching
  • Merits in developing the field of study, curriculum planning, the subject and/or one’s teaching methods, incl. feedback systems
  • Pedagogical studies or pedagogical competence gained in some other manner
  • Merits in organising teaching
  • Merits in utilising artistic activities and/or research in teaching/the development of teaching
  • Experience in pedagogical management (e.g. experience as the head of a degree programme)

Minimum qualifications for recruitment

Assistant professor

  • Proven ability to develop artistic activities and/or  research, incl. artistic renewal, as demonstrated  through artistic activities and/or research publications
  • Proven ability to establish and lead artistic groups and/or research groups based on educational background and/or work experience
  • Participation in acquiring funding for artistic  projects, development projects and/or research projects
  • Proven ability to engage in cooperation and build  networks based on educational background and/or work experience

Associate professor

  • Experience in the development of artistic activities and/or research, incl. artistic renewal, as demonstrated through one’s artistic activities and/ or research publications
  • Experience in establishing and leading artistic groups and/or research groups
  • Experience in receiving funding for artistic  projects, development projects and/or research projects
  • Experience in Finnish and international  cooperation and networking

Full professor

  • Strong merits in the development of artistic  activities and/or research, incl. artistic renewal, as demonstrated through one’s artistic activities and/  or research publications
  • Merits in establishing and leading artistic groups and/or research groups
  • Merits in receiving funding for artistic projects, development projects and/or research projects
  • Merits in Finnish and international cooperation and networking

  • Proven ability to engage in cooperation within a  higher education institution and/or with higher education institutions and other organisations, as demonstrated through one’s educational background and/or work experience
  • Proven ability to contribute to societal influence based on educational background and/or work experience

Associate professor

  • Experience in cooperation within an artistic and/or research community (incl. international cooperation)
  • Experience in cooperation within a higher  education institution and/or with higher education institutions and other organisations (incl. international cooperation)
  • Participation in the development of operations at a higher education institution
  • Experience in societal influence

Full professor

  • Merits in cooperation within an artistic and/or research community (incl. international cooperation)
