Lippapiste

Dear audience, welcome to Lippa’s world!

Our concert introduces the listeners to the stylistically diverse but always captivating music of one of the world’s most played British musical composers, Andrew Lippa (1964 – ). We offer you an acted out concert consisting of his compositions, thus taking you inside the worlds of Lippa’s musicals. You get a taste of his works, small glimpses of their stories and the various themes that connect his works. The performers have been choosing their material from various works by Lippa, and we have used them to create the story line ofr tonight’s show.

We hear songs from the following musicals: The Little Princess, You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown, Wild Party, Big Fish, I Am Harvey Milk, John And Jen, Man In The Ceiling and The Addams Family. The concert includes solo numbers as well as duets and larger ensemble numbers choreographed by Jyri Numminen. The show is directed by Jermo Grundström.

The performers are students of the Musiikkiteatteri study module and the concert is their final concert of the ensemble study course.

Andrew Lippa’s award-winning music has strongly shaped modern musical music whilst also being faithful to the traditions of its genre. His musicals have also been performed in Finland to an increasing extent.

We hope that you will enjoy your evening at the “Lippapiste”.
