Helga Karen – The Pianist Who Listens
Helga Karen’s third postgraduate concert.
Helga Karen’s third postgraduate concert discusses the interaction between chaos and silence, listening skills, enjoying the silence and opening your mind and your ear to the new and the unknown.
In the concert, the audience can dive into the rich tones of a grand piano, from dark clusters to bright individual notes, quiet down with the whispers of echoes and wake up to intensive soundscapes. The concert examines the role of a pianist as a listener in contemporary music and as someone who leads the audience into new soundspheres.
Programme
- Karlheinz Stockhausen (1928–2007) Klavierstück X (1962)
- Morton Feldman (1926–1987) Palais de Mari (1986)
Performers
- Helga Karen, piano
Full programme and performers in Finnish.

Mannerheimintie renovation project
Access to the Musiikkitalo from the direction of Mannerheimintie will be difficult. We recommend that you allow enough time for your arrival and use the entrance on the side of Kansalaistori if possible. According to current information, the entrance to Mannerheimintie will also remain in use throughout the renovation, but pedestrian routes can be challenging at times.
