Discussion: Sámi perspective in the arts and arts teaching
How should we take the suggestions compiled by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Concerning the Sámi People into consideration at Uniarts Helsinki?
The Theatre Academy will serve as a venue for a discussion event on the eve of the Sámi National Day on Thursday, 5 February 2026, at 17:30. Participants will discuss how to take the remarks made in the final report submitted by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Concerning the Sámi People into consideration in arts teaching and in other arts institutions’ activities.
The panellists include theatre director Pauliina Feodoroff, film director Katja Gauriloff, dramaturgy and playwriting student Aarni Pieski, dance artist Ritni Ráste Pieski and Theatre Academy professors Aune Kallinen, Tuija Kokkonen and Jarkko Lahti. Dean Otso Huopaniemi will moderate the discussion.
The event is open for anyone interested, and it will take place in Auditorium 1 at the Theatre Academy. There will also be a live stream of the event on YouTube.
