About the Artist

Saima Lehto (b. 2000, Helsinki) draws a lot and works with various printmaking techniques. Her subjects are found close by, often in everyday objects and moments. She likes birds, stuff, the colour blue, juice boxes, insects, paper notes and the month of May.

About the artwork

I’ve been observing my refrigerator door countless mornings, afternoons, evenings and nights. The arrangement that has formed there is fascinating. Slips of paper, bills, receipts, cards and simply beautiful things have been put on display. They balance with fridge magnets. The arrangement changes and grows all the time. Now there is more paper stuff than magnets. The fridge door is like a canvas full of small pictures to glance at.

I have an urge to replicate my things. The work is a replica of my fridge door made from woodcuts, carvings and small paintings.
