About the artwork

In my car-themed work, I explore dreaming, wandering, and the search for one’s own direction in life. The work draws on my child’s car play, my personal experiences of youth, and car-related dreams in which the automobile appears as a symbol of independence, life choices, and a sense of control. The aimless driving associated with small-town youth culture merges in the work with memories and dreams. In this way, personal experiences from different stages of my life come together, forming a temporally layered whole, much like the process of growing into adulthood itself.
