Mirja Inkinen (b. 1996, Hämeenlinna) is interested in ambiguousness. For her, painting is a way of capturing observations whilst revealing their unstable nature.

About the artwork

Something can be revealed or concealed with paint. Concealing is by far the more difficult of the two, because some traces continue to shine through even a thousand layers. It feels like everything that has already been painted could resurface at any moment, as though the painting does not end at the canvas but continues somewhere deeper, to a place that encapsulates all its original ideas, missteps, and the paths that have led to the present moment.
