Maarit Rantala

About The Artist

The starting point of Maarit Rantala’s paintings is corporeality – she thinks of painting as poetry of the body, where emotional memories become part of the experience. Rantala approaches painting by listening as if it were an independent entity. She seizes on the coincidences that arise in the painting and paints as if hinting at an object. Rantala is fascinated by the veiled and symbolic language of e.g. the Book of Revelation. Her art often deals with layers of life.
