Hermann Sebastian Schultz

About the Artist
Hermann Sebastian Schultz (b. 1994) is a visual artist based in Tampere, Finland.
Schultz primarily paints oil paintings on aluminium composite panels. With his background in mural painting, this influence is especially evident in the large scale of many of his works. Stylistically, his paintings can be described as contemporary history painting or impressionistic realism.
Schultz’s works explore peace, and through a documentary approach aim to reveal something real: whether visible, hidden, accidentally noticed or forgotten. Some moments stand out because something happened.
At other times, it can be equally significant that nothing happened: no conflict, no noise. Space, movement, a shared rhythm. And then it is gone.
Schultz’s artistic career has been shaped by working in public spaces, two residency periods at Villa Karo, as well as both solo and group exhibitions. His works are included in the collections of the Tampere Art Museum and Galleria Himmelblau. His best-known public work is “The Story of Tampere” painted on the concrete wall of Metsä Board TAKO OYJ at Laukontori in Tampere.
