Reetta Näätänen

Introduction

Reetta Näätänen works as a clarinetist at the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra (2001-) and as a PhD researcher at the Sibelius Academy, University of the Arts (2022-). She is a regular member of the TampereRaw contemporary music ensemble and also forms a duo with kantele artist Eva Alkula. Her research deals with the necessity of cultural sensitivity when performing cross-cultural works from different eras. In particular, she is interested in the representation of Japanese culture in contemporary Western music.
