Heli Kauppila

Introduction

Heli Kauppila, Doctor of Arts (Dance), works as a University Lecturer at the University of the Arts Helsinki, where she leads two arts pedagogy programmes: the University Pedagogy in the Arts Programme and Pedagogical Studies for the Teachers in the Arts. She is responsible for the overall development and delivery of these programmes and teaches, develops, and researches pedagogical practices grounded in the arts.
Prior to her academic career, Kauppila worked as a dancer and dance teacher, and she continues to be actively engaged in the field of artistic research. Her research focuses on the dialogical and ethical foundations of arts pedagogy, interdisciplinarity, and the dimensions of artistic thinking and practice in diverse learning contexts.
Currently, she is a researcher in the international project From Me Towards We: Artist Pedagogy as Relational Practice and is involved in developing supervisory expertise for doctoral supervisors.
