Introduction
Hanna Hurskainen works as a Lecturer in Musical Theatre at the University of the Arts Helsinki and Tampere University of Applied Sciences. Her area of expertise is musical theatre as an artistic-pedagogical practice and expressive art form, with musical theatre singing as her principal instrument.
Hurskainen has played a key role in the development of musical theatre education in Finland at both university and university of applied sciences levels. She is actively involved in teaching and, more recently, in research. Her contributions have had a significant impact on the structures and content of higher education in musical theatre at the national level.
She is currently a doctoral researcher at the DocMus Doctoral School of the Sibelius Academy, University of the Arts Helsinki. Her research explores higher education in musical theatre as well as musical theatre singing as both an artistic and pedagogical phenomenon.
