Pitch your art – Uniarts Hub demo day

Uniarts Hub pre-incubator programme presents the current participants’ pitches to highlight art-based business ideas.

Uniarts Hub pre-incubator programme will culminate in a live pitching event at the Academy of Fine Arts (Mylly, 2nd floor) on 12 December 2023 at 4 PM – 6 PM. The current Uniarts Hub participants will pitch their business ideas for the audience and jury.

About Uniarts Hub

Uniarts Hub is a pre-incubator programme that aims to support entrepreneurship in the creative sector and arts industries. The programme offers a clear info package on different possibilities of entrepreneurship in creative industries as well as support in developing the participants’ own business ideas.

The pre-incubator program runs twice a year and the next call for applications will open in 12 December 2023. The next batch starts in 27 February 2024.

Jury

Riitta Huttunen comes with a long and diverse range of experience across music industry organisations, educational institutions, record labels and varied projects. Riitta’s strength and passion lies in sales and networking. A graduate from the Folk Music Department at The Sibelius Academy, she is currently working as working life skills lecture at Uniarts Helsinki open campus.

Pete Karumo is an experienced veteran from the ICT industry. Pete Karumo’s experience spans several decades working in notable technology giants as well as a co-founder in VC-backed startups. He is passionate about helping clients with commercialisation efforts, digital transformation, building scalable, easy-to-use solutions and increasing productivity. Before joining Helsinki Incubators Pete worked the past decade in Singapore helping companies to enter and expand in the APAC region and mentoring Asian impact startups. He is fluent in Finnish, English and French.

Pete runs the TREMOR incubator programme, manages the participating teams and is developing a network of experts, mentors and programme collaborators.

Blair Stevenson is a proven leader, educator and strategic advisor with a broad range of experience in the fields of culture, entrepreneurship and technology. Currently, he is Founding Lead of the Centre for Arts Innovation at the Oulu University of Applied Sciences (Oamk). This centre is supporting arts, culture and innovation efforts at the national and international level in connection with the Oulu 2026 European Capital of Culture.

Over the last decade, he has founded a series of globally unique higher education Master’s degrees and incubation programs bridging education, innovation and the creative industries. He has recently returned from a leave in Toronto, Canada where he was working with a number of organizations such as the University of Pennsylvania, EdTech Hub and the University of Toronto where he held an adjunct professorship with the BMO Lab in Creative Research in the Arts, Performance, Emerging Technologies and Artificial Intelligence.

Host

Elsa Ervasti is a Theater academy alumni. After graduating from theatre pedagogy, master’s degree, she has coached hundreds of startups who drive digital innovations in food tech, health, education and wellness. Elsa is combining critical thinking and artist-pedagogical practices in work life and she uses theatre-based methods to develop entrepreneurial skills. 

She has coached in several universities pitching a Åbo Akademi, Uniarts Helsinki, Aalto University IDBM program and Metropolia. Elsa has a dynamic and creative way of coaching pitching, stage presence and interaction skills. www.elsaervasti.com
