Uniarts Hub and Aalto Digital Creatives pre-incubator programmes join forces for a demo day pitch event to highlight creative and art-based business ideas.

Uniarts Hub and Aalto Digital Creatives pre-incubator programmes organise their second joint creative industry pitching event, Creative Demo Day. Altogether twelve participants from both programs pitch their business ideas to the public and receive feedback from a jury of creative industry experts. Creative Demo Day is an official side event of Slush 2023.
The members of the jury are Helene Auramo (Prönö), Anu Oksanen (Business Helsinki), Heikki Laaninen (Metropolia University of Applied Sciences) and Xander Ross (Percy & Warren). This event is hybrid, so the audience has the chance to choose online or on-site participation. Please note that pre-registarion is required. The language of the event is English and it will be hosted by Aicha Manai.
Uniarts Hub supports entrepreneurship in arts industries
Uniarts Hub is a pre-incubator program that aims to support entrepreneurship in the creative sector and arts industries. The program offers a clear info package on different possibilities of entrepreneurship in art-based industries as well as support in developing the participants’ own business ideas. Aalto Digital Creatives and Uniarts Hub pre-incubators are supported by the City of Helsinki and are a part of Helsinki-based higher education institutions’ campus incubators network.

The Uniarts Hub pre-incubator programme runs twice a year and the next call for applications will open in December 2023. The next batch starts in February–March 2024.
Jury
Helene Auramo is CEO and Chief Ethical Officer & Co-Founder of Prönö. She is also an entrepreneur and Co-Founder of Slush (Europe’s biggest startup event), Zipipop (the first social media agency in Finland), and Indiedays (the first fashion blogger site in Finland). www.heleneauramo.com

Anu Oksanen is a Master on Entrepreneurship and SME Management + IDBM-program. Currently working as a business advisor on Business Helsinki. Having over 20 years’ experience training and mentoring entrepreneurs and working on startup development. Also worked five years as an entrepreneur. Having also run the Arabus incubator center on its early days in University of Arts (former UIAH). International experience through living in France, Cyprus and Thailand.

Heikki Laaninen is a business development expert focused on the creative industries and cultural segment with a strong international background. Laaninen used to work in the design and branding company in the Netherlands, at Rovio Entertainment, and over ten years as an entrepreneur in the cultural segment in Finland working as a consultant, agent, advisor, and business developer helping many entertainment, design, and content brands to grow their business especially in the international markets. Right now, he is working as a project manager at Metropolia UAS for Baltic Sea Games Go! – a collaboration project between seven countries and thirteen organisations within the Baltic Sea Region to support our gaming industry ecosystem and new game developers.

Xander Ross is a film, TV and gaming PR specialist who has been working with producers, broadcasters, and streamers across trade and consumer campaigns for the past 10 years. An expert on international content markets, he has run PR for distributors and producers at key industry events such as Annecy, MIPTV, Edinburgh TV Festival, and Sheffield DocFest. He has planned and managed campaigns for VOD platform launches, facilitated content provider integrations onto connected TV platforms, produced PR consultancy sessions for prolific Finnish producers with the APFI, and run the global publicity for gaming companies such as Star Stable Entertainment.

Aicha Manai is a Finnish-Tunisian speaker, business advisor, career counselor and immigration expert with a passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion. She currently works as the CEO for Startup Refugees, a social innovation that supports refugees, asylum seekers and immigrants towards entrepreneurship, employment and skills development.
