About the artwork

The series of works consists of three sculptures, combining traditional techniques with modern digital working methods. Each sculpture differs from the others by material and technique, yet shares common thematics about the contrast between organic and artificial, value, sacred affects and the human body.

The wall-attaching sculpture Aesthetic archaeology consists of 3D scanned and printed objects, synthetic hair, and fasteners made out of silicone and metal. It draws inspiration from themes such as dialogue between the organic and artificial, clinical body image and body modification in time and in the future.

Stone work is a CNC-milled sandstone sculpture based on a 3D model. It merges a scan of a human figure with digitally simulated drapery covering it completely. It draws from the long tradition of marble sculptures in art history, where fabric was masterfully rendered in stone. The work is also in conversation with antique and renaissance sculptures through shared themes of body, sacred and intimacy.

Right round consists of aluminium hoops that rotate inside each other powered by servo motors and slip rings. In the middle of the hoops is attached a transparent, muscly unicorn. The work draws on themes from pop culture phenomena, kinesthetics and optical illusions.
