Jaqueline Ristimäki

About the Artist

Jaqueline Ristimäki (b. 1993) is a situational artist excited by the traditions of Dada, Arte Povera and Fluxus. In her practice, she explores the Jungian concept of synchronicity, or “coherence”, as she terms the phenomenon herself, through logging and journaling. She communicates her research through post-internet modes of expression within offline environments.

Logged objects May ’24

I found these objects around the same time and place, apart from the case, and quickly began projecting a narrative based on my associations. Of these objects assembled in a Reaganian briefcase, a block of blue foam board insulation appears as a counterpoint to my idea of a red brick.
The contrast between an advertisement aimed at Time 100 readers and the idea of the magazine reflects the schizophrenic nature of the capitalist world order in way I see as somewhat sarcastic. I feel like putting that sarcasm in a blender, except it gets stuck.
