About the artwork
Parents often take pictures of their children. The moments are selected, framed and staged the way that feels worth immortalizing: worth remembering. These individual moments form a story of our past and of the time that we ourselves don’t remember.
Whose version of our childhood will go down in history?
With this work I create my own version of my childhood. One where tantrums live together with magic and where even adults don’t always feel like smiling in photos.
I have exposed the printing plates of my work from pencil drawings based on photos I found in my family’s archives. Through drawing I’m able to modify the pictures, manipulate the expressions – shape the moments to reflect my personal experience of life.
