Uniarts Helsinki’s Academy of Fine Arts is resuming exchange exhibitions after a five-year break by joining forces with Berlin University of the Arts (UdK). The exhibition, held at Kuva/Tila from October 31 to November 23, 2025, features works by students from both art institutions and is titled Einladung/Kutsu, reflecting the concept of invitation: to come along, to stay and to interact.
An exhibition as a shared moment
The title Einladung/Kutsu moves between the meanings of German and Finnish. In German, Einladung means both an invitation and a gesture of offering food or drink. In Finnish, kutsu refers to the act of inviting someone and kutsut to a celebration with refreshments. The exhibition is thus an open gesture, a shared moment, and an opportunity for hospitality.
The exhibition is built on collaboration between students, which began in spring 2025 with a joint exhibition held at UdK in Berlin. Now, the students gather for a second time, reciprocally in Helsinki.
Discussions held in the spring about studying art and artistic practice have continued. New works have also emerged. These are presented in the exhibition side by side, interwoven and in contrast, just like at a gathering where people come together.
Artists from both art institutions
The exhibition features students from both universities. Participating artists include:
Irini Arana, Sophia Ashraf, David Bianchi, Alvar Bohrmann, Taleja Engelke, Lisa Faustmann, Florian Heinemann, Annika Horn, Sini Ilves, Matilda Keränen, Paavo Kärki, Magdalena Loheide, Diana Luganski, Nauthey, Marina Pohl, Aino Raatikainen, Janina Schwiemann, Katia Lina Sternel, Viktor Sundman, Aino Tillonen, Luumu Tursas, Sofia Vuorenmaa, and Anne Yli-Ikkelä.
UdK painting lecturer Markus Jäntti and professor Robert Lucander selected the Academy of Fine Arts students for the exhibition. Academy of Fine Arts painting lecturer Päivi Takala and professor Tarja Pitkänen-Walter selected the UdK students.
