  • KuvA Research Days 2024

KuvA Research Days 2024 examined the multifaceted nature of artistic research through three independent program days. The unifying theme was a reflective and open-minded exploration of connections between art, research, and community, addressing topics such as Indigenous art, walking as artistic practice, and the interplay of art and research. You can find here a more detailed programme and speakers’ bios for each day.

  • KuvA Research Days 2023

KuvA Research Days 2023 examined the diverse contexts of artistic research from the perspectives opened up by three independent program days. The unifying line of thought is a curious and open-minded return to phenomena and skills that have not received the attention they deserve. You can find here a more detailed programme and speakers’ bios for each day.

  • KuvA Research Days 2022

KuvA Research Days engaged with a multiplicity of artistic research contexts through a series of situations that suggest kaleidoscopic relations with each other. The working themes were entaglements and contrasts between exhibition and symposium, artistic process and teaching situation, city spaces of Helsinki and Johannesburg as well as the relations between critical thinking and play.

  • KuvA Research Days 2021

The seventh edition of KuvA Research Days shed some light on experiential practices, pedagogical processes, and supposedly intelligent machines. What is at stake in sensory witnessing? How is the pandemic transforming the art school and its pedagogical visions? How are neural networks and deep learning systems shaping artistic thinking?

  • KuvA Research Days 2020

The sixth edition of KuvA Research Days addressed a highly complex and heterogeneous set of framing conditions of knowing, learning, thinking and being together. As it happens, the question of framing conditions also affected the event itself.

  • KuvA Research Days 2019

In year 2019 KuvA Research Days led us to ponder the preconditions and urgent questions of the human experience. How does artistic thinking meet the dead end of fossil capitalism? What kinds of actor networks should artistic research position itself in?

  • KuvA Research Days 2018

This time KuvA Research Days delved into the questions of imagination. Our thinking often starts with individual needs, goals and preferences. We nevertheless live and act in the world together. How can we cultivate empathy and togetherness?

  • KuvA Research Days 2017

In year 2017 KuvA Research Days encompasses a rich variety of topical issues as well as presentation, discussion, and working modes. Instead of adding another layer in the discussions on the essence of artistic research, focus was on the collisions and interferences of different ways of framing and articulating decisive moments of artistic practice.
