Anna Fran Mäki-Jyllilä (b. 1998, Helsinki) is someone who draws, a printmaker and collector of ephemera. They study meanings folded within each other, in objects and in architecture, in language and in time.

About the artwork

I have drawn my home, Helsinki. The works are based on my strolling in the city, in years and blinks of an eye, affected by imagination and some literary portrayals of Helsinki. 

I draw on small pieces of metal. In drypoint, a line may be found just before it disappears. The image is made of scratches. In mezzotint, a line is haze. Through burnishing the coarsely grinded surface of copper, I call for an image that can’t be seen.
