Uniarts Helsinki to close its facilities; teaching and work continue remotely

Following the Finnish government’s announcement, all Finnish universities will close their facilities as of Wednesday, 18 March 2020. The government’s decision will be in effect until 13 April 2020.

*** Update on 17 March 2002 at 9:38 am.***
Uniarts Helsinki is waiting for more specific instructions from the authorities as far as the closing of the university facilities and the arrangement of teaching and other activities are concerned. We will update our own instructions as soon as the official guidelines are available. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this exceptional situation.

The facilities of Uniarts Helsinki will be closed accordingly as of Wednesday, 18 March. The staff and students are asked to pick up their personal work equipment, such as phones and laptops, from the university facilities by 5 pm on Tuesday, 17 March. More information about other potential effects of the government’s decision will be provided on Tuesday, 17 March.

Despite the closing of the facilities, the university will continue to operate as normally as possible: teaching, guidance and work will continue remotely wherever possible.

“Even though we are closing our doors, we are doing everything we can to keep the university going as normally as possible. This situation is new to all of us and requires perseverance, creativity and cooperation. I am fully confident that we will get through this exceptional time together,” says Rector Jari Perkiömäki.
