Maryam Bagheri Nesami selected as professor of artistic research at the Theatre Academy

Maryam Bagheri Nesami has been appointed professor of artistic research at the Theatre Academy. Iran-born Bagheri Nesami’s background is in dance research and choreography. Most recently, she worked at the University of Auckland, where she also completed her doctorate in 2021.

Bagheri Nesami has also taught and worked at several other universities in Iran, Australia and various European countries. In 2020–2022, she worked as an artist-researcher in a research project titled Subtle Corporealities, funded by the Kone Foundation.

The position of professor of artistic research is part-time (50%) and for a fixed term from 22 April 2024 to 31 May 2028. The position is based at the Performing Arts Research Centre (Tutke).

The decision to select Bagheri Nesam was made by the Uniarts Helsinki rector on the proposal of the Theatre Academy dean.
