“The artist residence in Cove Park and the Scottish Sculpture Workshop offers me a great opportunity to find and learn new perspectives. The residence allows an extension of my research, where I look for ways to make art with sustainable materials and methods. During my residency period, I will work with bioplastics made from local materials,” Santtu Laine describes.

“In my artistic practice, I have become increasingly focused on how we relate to one another within specific contexts. Speech moves between bodies, gradually forming our minds and shaping our shared reality. I’m thankful to the Saastamoinen Foundation and the Uniarts Alumni program for this exciting residency opportunity at ISCP”, Hans Rosenström explains.

Uniarts Helsinki’s Academy of Fine Arts, in partnership with Saastamoinen Foundation, provides international opportunities and professional support for academy graduates in the form of residency grants. Residency programmes, aimed at Academy of Fine Arts alumni, support post-graduate research and development of visual artists at international high-quality residencies.

The alumni residency calls were open from 13.10.-13.11.2022. A panel consisting of international, invited jury members made a preselection of applicants and the final selection was made by the residency partners.

Our other residency program partners are Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht, LIFT Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto and SPACE in London. The call for these will open in February 2023. The call for Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten will open in September.

The Academy of Fine Arts and Saastamoinen Foundation wish to congratulate the selected alumni!
