The Open University offers a diverse range of studies in the arts
In autumn 2026, you can study on dozens of inspiring courses at the Open University.
Autumn courses focus on various themes in acting, directing, dance, music, writing and visual arts and reflect on the societal and philosophical dimensions of art. The selection also includes courses on artificial intelligence in the context of creative work, improvisation, songwriting and art pedagogy, offering everyone interested in the arts opportunities to discover new ways of learning, self-expression and skill development.
Did you not receive a study place? You can study free of charge with a study voucher
A study voucher is a government‑funded initiative that allows a young person without a study place to complete up to 30 credits of Open University studies free of charge.
With the study voucher, you can try out Uniarts Helsinki’s Open University courses and get to know different fields of study. This way, you can find out if Uniarts Helsinki could be your direction. Depending on your interests, you can take individual courses in music, performing arts or visual arts, complete language and communication studies, or choose a study module.
Free studies for Uniarts Helsinki alumni and staff discount for Uniarts Helsinki employees
Uniarts Helsinki alumni who have graduated after 1 August 2020 can complement their studies free of charge at Uniarts Helsinki’s Open University.
Uniarts Helsinki staff receive a 50% discount on their studies. Please note that the discount does not apply to teaching organised at partner institutions (summer universities, folk high schools).
