The International Harald Andersén Chamber Choir Competition is a distinguished event that has been held every three years since 2003. It is open to mixed chamber choirs with 16 to 40 members of any nationality; the choirs may include professional singers. The competition is named after the father of Finnish chamber choir music, conductor Harald Andersén (1919–2001).
A maximum of 12 choirs will be preselected for the preliminary competition. Including transitions, the duration of each choir’s performance may be no more than 20 minutes. Competition repertoire is free, but it shall include the mandatory competition piece: Riikka Talvitie: Même mort (2002) III Mais je suis mort (Margarita Duras: Hiroshima mon amour)
The competition is organized by The Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki.
Pension Insurance Company Elo is Sibelius Academy’s cooperation partner and main cooperative partner of the International Harald Andersén chamber choir competition.
